World F Class Equipment List

Unlike with benchrest competitions, there is no equipment list taken at F class competitions, so it would have to rely on competitors PMing their equipment details to someone in this thread to create a list in here.

I want to know what his equipment list is, his ammo, chambering, reamer spec, gunsmith, what he ate each day, what time he went to sleep each night, what time he woke up, how he sets up his rest, and how he pulls his trigger. :D

I could answer half of those questions, but Rod himself would probably tell you anyway. He is a very generous man when it comes to passing on knowledge.

Besides, all we really want to know is what Rod's setup is (@RDavies)!
I can help with that.
I used 2 complete rifles. In the Nationals I used my old gun, a Barnard Right bolt dual port in aluminium stock with a rechambered 9" twist Bartlein 7 SAUM barrel 29" long.
In the Worlds I used a left bolt, left port Barnard in a wooden laminate stock with another 9" twist Bartlein 7 SAUM barrel around 31" long.
I used the same ammo in each gun as my gunsmith, Matt Paroz from LRP Solutions set both chambers up identical for this competition and both shot well with the same load, seating depth etc.
My ammo was 300 SAUM brass necked down and neck turned with 180gn Berger Hybrids. Load was 56.3gns of H4350 in the first range each day and 56.2gns of H 4350 powder for the 2nd and 3rd range each day. (I did go up 0.1gn for the teams to allow for slow down as round count went up).
In the individuals, I ran both of my scopes with windage knobs on LHS but I ran the Nightforce Competitions the normal way (RHS windage knobs) for the teams event.
Both rifles shot extremely well of course but I did have another barrel at home I could have used as it also shot very consistent sub X or V ring elevation at 1000yds. I did try my old gun in the teams practice day and I suspect it might have been very slightly more accurate than my new gun, but due to lower round count I decided to stay with the new gun for the teams event

Good idea to have the windage knob on the left hand side. That should make it easier to adjust from a prone shooting position. So I flipped my F/TR scope around and tried it.

It was much easier to reach the knob, but when I looked through the scope the target was REALLY REALLY small. What's up with that?

Yeah but the eye relief was huge
