working up new loads

i know when working up new loads everyone has different ways. but been told and have done so reading that most BR shooters will pic a load that fills the case the most, then work on OAL . could it be possible if a picked a load below max and just worked the OAL?

Howdy !

Like you said... many shooters will give varied responses.

For a given powder that you have picked, you'll first want to be close to final charge wt.
Then..... finesse' things like bullet seated depth, and best primer choice.

At least that's how it has gone, for me.

good info in that link. for some reason i keep finding the most accurate charge is one grain under max on 2 of mr rifles. then again it almost fills the case at least 90 or 95% i was shocked how well imr 4064 under a 60grain FB sierra worked in my 223. a good friend that hunts coyotes with 63 grain sierra SMP gave my a box and said to try with 4064 that load works very well especially to be a hunting bullet. but I'm only shooting 200 yards
