Work Bench under $400?

The issue I would have with the desks is that they are meant to sit at. I like to stand when working and I do a great deal of my work on the kitchen counter or island, where there is good light and always the right temperature, etc, etc. Of course most of my press work is done in the garage, but even some bullet seating is done with in-line seaters on an arbor press, in the kitchen.

Did I mention that I am single?

I removed the vise from the end, and added some built-on overhead LED lighting. I'm able to runa Hornady Classic single stage press on the right side, and a Hornady AP progressive on the left (though the handle position comes into play when opening the left hand drawers.)
 
I have the 72" one and really like it. very sturdy and has an adjustable height option. This is at Samsclub. My local one had the 72" one in stock

I bought 2 from Ikea for less than $100 each. They are solid wood and are table height not workbench height.
They work Great.
 
I built this bench maybe 20 years ago. I used 4X4's for legs, mortised in 2X4's to frame the top and bottom shelf, then used 2 pieces of 3/4 plywood (glued and screwed together) for the top. It is heavy and extremely stable. However, I wish I had made it a bit deeper. I used mostly scrape/savaged materials and probably had $50 out-of-pocket.

I got a 2x4 framed bench from home depot about five years ago for $79 on sale. It has a shelf below and if I screwed it to a wall stud it would be fine for a bench. i bet it would cost 6 times as much today!

They quit selling them a few years back when someone realized they were losing money.

I have a few of these in the shop of different sizes. They have smaller ones for even less. They are high quality, and worth the price in the long run. I like the square edge maple, nice for mounting vices or presses.
