Tell us about that High-Tech stock in the bottom two photos. From the upper picture it looks like it is flat on the underside of the forearm--that would be nice in the bags. Is there a painted pattern on the stock from the factory--or did you do that yourself?

EIC,
The Hi-tech stock does have a flat on the bottom. It will ride the bags fine but not as well as the HBR in the top picture.
Im thinking that the name of this stock is the Rem Varmint Stock.I believe its inletted for a factory heavy barrel.I like it because is alittle bigger on the forend than there hunter model. They arrive looking like this.

Kinda rough looking but nothing filler can't cure.
The good things.
250 bucks and a two week delevery.Looking like the pic above.
I believe they make a Rem 700 drop in stock all finished.
price is higher.
About a pound lighter than a Mcmillian molded color stock.
Amazingly ridgid for its weight.
The bad things.
Lots of finishing/painting to get it done.Pushes up price.
Limited selection of inlets.Mcmillian can pretty much inlet for anything.Hi-tech is molded to what ever they have.
My 6mm-06 was smithed and finished by Accurate Rifle Works,Randy Nemenz. He liked mine so much he built one for himself on a M70 push feed.

To be honest im a big fan of the Mcmillian HTG.Its been my goto hunting stock since 1986.Back then they called it the General Purpose or GP stock.I was looking to loose some weight over the Mcmillian with the hi tech and now the Mcmilians have brought out the new edge stock.Guess ill just have to build a few more guns.
Heres a older hi tech of mine finished a bit differently.

You have a great week.
dave:)

Dave how did you do the paint job? Is that a dip like the realtree finishes?

Awesome job, a little hi-tech with the stock and kinda old school on barrel and action. If they shoot as well as they look you have a couple of keepers.
