Wood for stock blank.

For those of you who make your own stocks, where are you getting blanks? I need to find somewhere to pick up a plain walnut blank made up of 3/8" or 1/2" laminates.

Not sure what quality you are looking for, but Richard's Microfit has blocks and blocks of both laminate and solid pieces they have at their facility outside of Los Angeles (CA). They have something like 5 or 6 different qualities. You might want to give them a call and ask them if they'd sell you one or however many your seek. 1- 800-895-7420.
I've been to their facility and have personal seen quite an impressive array of wood blocks. Just a thought.

He has the fanciest walnut, myrtlewood, and others.
Also quality but plain grained blanks.

The myrtlewood blank he provided for my prone gun is exceptional.

Cecil came to my cousin's mill here in Ophir to get all those myrtlewood blanks. My cousin, of course, kept the best over all those years...I'll post a picture next time I'm at the mill.

I used to make up stocks from scratch to try different things. Never could find laminated blanks. Being in the middle of nowhere, I cant find local wood either. Actually I found some nice boards on ebay and made my own laminates for those projects. A couple of those stocks still show up at Deep Creek. I was one of the best at figuring out ways to work for peanuts. I no longer make stocks from scratch.

You might try Richards MicroFit Gunstocks out of Cali . They specialize in Laminate Stocks , and I think they sell "Blanks" also .

C'mon Man . I have a stock from them . Yeah , I had to do a lot of finish on it to bring up to my satisfaction , but their askin about a blank . LOL How bad can a Blank be screwed up ?
