Woo Hoo !!!

Got up at 8:00 this Xmas morning. Wife said “I’m cooking pies and dinner stuff ... get out of the house and be back by 3:00”. Packed the rifles and gear and headed to the range. Going to be in the low 70’s today with little wind (Florida!!). Good Christmas present if you ask me. Happy Holidays Y’all.

What range do you shoot at on Christmas day? Down at this end of the state we get 2 days a month. The FWC and various building depts have been haggling over bathrooms at our new range for 2 years. The ranges have been ready for over 2 years and not one shot has been fired.

My son is a member at Titusville but been eyeballing your range for a move. His only goes to 300 & you have to qualify at 100 & 200 every time you go just so you can shoot 300. What a waste, enjoy your day. :)

I will be shooting at my house today. I have it set up to shoot 100 yards, could shoot 200 but would have to move shooting line and put in another backstop. Osceola National Forest is 35 miles from me, 200 yards there. It is open 7 days a week, sunrise to sunset. Free.

Bradford goes to 850...have to show their range master you can hit steel 3 times at 400-600-700-and 850. After that, you're on the list and good to go.

Range I belong too is closed Christmas and Easter Day. Neighbors close to range complained few years ago about shooting on Christmas Day. Board decided to be close these two days

What's annoying about Titusville is you have to do it every time!! What about when they have matches at Bradford. ? Does everyone have to go through the "qualify" cycle?? I am not an amateur. I can ring steel at 1880. Why should I have to "qualify" at 3 or 4 distances first??? Just wasting my ammo. If I couldn't shoot I wouldn't be there. I guess I am just spoiled by shooting in the desert plus my range is open to members 24-7 with no range master. Our steel goes from 100 to 1100. We run our matches with no range master. everyone is responsible for safety & it works fine. We even had a helicopter land on the range during our match & 12 guys yelled cease fire at the same time. No casualties. LOL Even during open shooting everyone polices everyone else.
No offense to you Dick.

Ok, the reason as explained to me was the backstop. They have a 40 ft berm and want to simply ensure you're not shooting over it. As the range is 'open' to the public after paying the daily rate, they have no idea of the shooters abilities. There is NO requirement from 100-600 yards to certify. But if you go further they just want to make sure you actually understand comeups or what a mil-rad is. The three prior shooting ranges are to make sure you can work the tables (dope charts) and go from one to the next correctly. It's not a class, but simply watching and correcting any issues. You might not be surprised, but you know what I mean with all the urban snipers running around. And I am never offended on the Internet. After being certified once, then NO RSO requirement. You check in, they check the list and free to go shoot. Flags, lights and sound warnings to operate the safety issues. The matches I've seen never go past 600 as I recall. BTW, ringing steel at over a miles is impressive. Good on you.

I started shooting there in November of '08. I've also shot sporting clays there. I know Pat and Al. The company that I've done a lot of work for used to hold their annual party there. We'd have a day of sporting clays then a barbecue and band. I'm 63 miles from there. I shoot f class at Camp Blanding. We have a 1000 yarder on the 12th and 13th of January. Near the end of January we have a 600 and XTC.
