Wolff vs. Federal

How do Wolff Match Extra and Federal 711B compare? These are both .22LR.
I'm looking for anecdotal information. Looking for the law of averages here.

Despite Federal's claims their 711B should be sold in milk cartons like AutoMatch and other stuff you use to shoot tin cans with the grand-kids.

The OLD Wolf Match Target and Match Extra, which was made in Germany, was quite good considering the price. You might not win many matches with it but you won't be embarrassed either. Some of my rifles preferred the Match Target over the Match Extra.

The current Wolf, made in England, seems to be pretty good. Certainly way better than 711B but not sure yet if it's as good as the German manufactured Wolf was.

In case you're not aware Wolf doesn't actually make anything. They're just a distribution and marketing company. The "story" is the German Wolf 22 ammo was made by Lapua and the English version is made by Eley. Might be true....

Not a "story", it's the truth. Lapua MFG'd Wolf was SK Standard+ (Wolf Match Target) and SK Rifle Match (Wolf Match Extra). I have no idea which Eley branded products are which for Wolf now.

Thanks for the replies, fellows. I had some very good results with the Wolf many years back and wandered how it stacked up now.
I'll continue looking for a local source.

Thanks,

In the meantime, I went to my local Cabela's (10 miles) and bought 9, 50-round boxes, of the Federal 711B. All they had. Will be giving them a try later this week.

I wish I had bought more 900b, and ultra match in the plastic box, better than the b...why did federal stop the best they ever made? Maybe New owner will bring it back.

The Federal 711B? At $7.00/50, (0.14 cents ea.) Meh, it wasn't much better than the Federal Auto-Match from Wal-Mart at +/- $22.00 for 325 count. (0.068 cents ea.).
