wolf match or wolf match extra ?

You opened a can of worms on this..
Older Wolf ammo was made in Germany. Newer ammo (about last 2 years) is made in England by Eley.

I have only shot the older german made ammo But none of my guns (4 handguns and 4 rifles) liked either very well.

Way back when it first came aroune most shooters I knew had better sucess with the match, including me. I still have a few bricks of each, I always did well with it. But, that was position shooting or offhand, probably luck of the draw considering I was the operator, lol.

I've shot both in my Custom 10/22. My rifle shot them pretty much the same which was pretty darn good but I stuck with the match just because it was cheaper and easier to find.

I have shot the old and the new, both shoot great. The Extra should be the better ammo. Both shoot great in my guns.

It isn't really important what someone else's gun likes. What is important is what your gun likes. What is important is which one your gun likes and the only way to find out is to test it with a brick or two of each at the yardage you intend to shoot it. On forums I've noticed a trend that everything shoots great in someone's gun and every thing shoots terrible in someone else's gun. Not everyone chooses ammunition because it shoot's smaller groups, as an example I shoot federal 243 fusion ammunition because I like the color of the box and the price and no it doesn't shoot bad.

What I have is German. A lot depends on lot# I have 3 good guns-1710 anschutz 541 T rem and a Stiller action custom and they all soot best with a certain lot# of match extra that I split with 2 buddies. (case) along with both of them. It all shoots pretty good but that lot is exceptional. Gary

I shoot two cases of rimfire ammunition per year, in smallbore prone practice and competition. The older Wolf Ammunition was made in Germany for Lapua by SK. They equated to SK Standard Plus, and SK Rifle Match. The ammunition had the same Lapua headstamp whether it was SK, Wolf, or Lapua.

So, test both in your rifle, and decide which works best for your application. I've had good lots of Wolf Match 'Extra'/ SK Rifle Match, and I've had great lots of SK Standard Plus/Wolf Match Target.

My preference is SK Standard Plus for practice, Eley Tenex for competition.
