Wolf a N D Tulammo primer question

Bought 10k of ea, small rifle factory sealed. They are std, not mag.
What has me stumped is that the whitish cardboard box has exact same nomenclature as the 5K box of Wolf small rifle mag primers I have on the shelf. I viewed the ad, saw same #s and words so figured they would be mags like my inventory.

I have a .19-223, 20VT, 20 Prac and 20 BR, 6XC Palma brass and of course .223.
As stated, half are Tula and half are Wolf.
Save the mags for the XC?

Any experience with the std primers compared to the mags? ALL 5 boxes of 5K state Standard which is what baffles as well as disappoints me.

NCSR or KVB-223 are 'standard' charge, and should be avoided if you load anywhere close to maximum. They'll pierce.

NCSRM, KVB-223M or KVB-556M have slighly thicker cups & are what I use for everything in Palma brass & the Hornady 6HAGAR.

This includes 308 Palma loads, 6XC made from 308 Palma cases, and this year's 284INCH project cartridge.

While I don't use them indiscriminately (some of each) loaded randomly in match load cases, I've used all three under match conditions.

Not yet noted any differences I can attribute to primers, save for those in that 284 where I had issues with blanking. For that I've switched to CCI BR-4's & not seen a return of blanking.

That white box labeling may be referring to what you have as standard to distinguish them from non-lead primers the Murom factory may yet still produce. I saw reports they were available from the company several years ago but never saw any being imported into the US.

I just checked and the white outer boxes have KVB 223. The box of Mags has a 5.56 designation. Oh well, thought I was set for several years of small rifle mags. C'est la vie.

Try the 223's with your equipment, just be cautious when working up loads searching for nodes nearer the high end than the middle.

Lots of factors add up to conditions where they'll begin to show signs they can't hold pressures the 556's easily contain.

In all other respects they should work well for you.

Taj, in my inventory the standard SR primer has a copper cup; the SRM have either nickel (older) or brass cups. IMO, the std SR primers are great for 22 K-Hornet or similar, but probably not for the high intensity CF rounds you mentioned unless you are downloading them.
