WOA -- How are their varmint uppers?

John did 3 for me on Stiller lower receivers and Shilen barrels. These are for a Grandson and 2 sons. Another assembled his with WOA parts. John built me a legal Service Rifle upper with a custom shop Leupold 1.25X4 Service Rifle scope.
White Oak has great products and are a pleasure to do business with. Check out John's SR shooting. His is one of the best or in the top 3 in the old USA.

I had Compass Lake build a 204 Krieger upper years ago. It would shoot 1/2” groups @100 with factory hornady ammunition.

I had CLE re-barrel my 6940 with a 7 twist Krieger, but I’ve never gotten serious about grouping. Mainly shooting cheap LC surplus ammunition.

Should I or can I expect better accuracy from this WOA upper than say from a factory Bushmaster or RRA or Stag 15 varminter.
Maybe, depends. All of my WOA experience is barrels that I build the uppers:
- 3 20P 24" barrels, 2 of the 3 excellent, the one is more challenging to find loads for
- 223 18" 12T, and 20" 8T. Both shot very well
- 204R 24", shoots very well

RRA Varmint 8T 24" I bought as an upper. But in order to remove the sling stud on the free float handguard, I had to disassemble the upper. Put on a gas block I like and a different handguard (theirs was loctited on, and very difficult to remove and I broke the jam nut). After lapping the upper face and re-assembling it shoots very well with lighter bullets (best shooting 8T I have with lighter bullets).

I have two woa varmint uppers. Standard woa varmint chamber for the varmint application with 12” twist (18” bull barrel varmint upper with shorter freebore) and a woa 22” fluted 8” twist varmint upper for longer range. 0.8” TEN shot groups with berger 52gr match bullets and 77gr sierra TMK bullets respectively for these uppers. The low end woa uppers are the shiznitz at their price point.

Thanks guys I really appreciate all the info. According to tracking numbers I could be shooting this wed. or Thurs of next week as long as the weather cooperates. My 6mmAR may be here by then also.

I cant say enough nice things about WOA. I did my only ar build with one of their 1 in 7 twist 20" shilen barrels with m16 feedramps only to find out that it wouldnt work with my anderson upper as it needed m4 feedramps
They went out of there way to sell me an upper of theirs that they dont offer for sale to keep my build going .... That rifle is a build with all budget parts. And a good barrel and a diy trigger job .. It shoots 5/8- 3/4 inch groups from a bipod with 69 , 77, or 80 sierras..
I have talked about 6 people into buying there barrels due to the customer support they gave me they were all but one the wilson blanks and every one of them built a great shooting rifle

WOA 26 inch barrel on a bushmaster lower with a geissele trigger shoots very small groups using 73 grain berger bullets driven by varget powder. Was going to use it as a mid-range F Class backup rifle but semi autos are a pain in F Class.

Ive got a WOA .223 1-12T varmint upper that wins the gas gun class at our local varmint matches, normally it shoots .75" or less at 200 yards

Also just put together a 20 practical upper with a WOA barrel and it's shooting just as good, but haven't finished load development yet
Had to go to Google to figure out what WOA stands for....am I the only one?
Ben

Mine is a 20 Practical in 24" barrel AR Upper. I'm just working on the loads for 32 and 40 grain loads, but it shoots very accurately so far. The quality is excellent, I was curious who actually make the blank also, should probably be Wilson?

Who makes RRA's barrels? A buddy had a Coyote Carbine and I, being a turn-bolt guy, was surprised, even jealous of the groups it shot.

In competition circles White Oak is considered one of the top choices for winning rigs, so they would be more than fitting for varmint work.

I shoot this ar in groundhog shoots here in Pa. I have shot it for the last 2 seasons. It is a tremendous learning curve to shoot an ar as a benchrest rifle. BUT its coming around. It will shoot consistently shoot high 2" or low 3" at 500 yards. Note the driver just had his cataracts removed and is seeing much better but is still not allowed to shoot a firearm. Hopefully things will go better when I can see better. For the last 2 seasons my average score was a 132 out of 150. The last match I was able to shoot was a 142 out of 150. Both the custom light class and the custom heavy class was won respectively with a 145 and 144. WOA has done a great job for me. Thanks to all that help me decide.
