Witt Machine clamp on muzzle brake????

I have a Witt clamp on brake on a lightweight Tikka 308 and it works exactly as advertised.
Greatly reduced recoil and no effect on accuracy.
I have had it for 5 years and it's definitely worth it.
The suppressor companies say the a 45 caliber suppressor works with a 9mm just fine , the larger hole makes little difference.

My experience with this product was less than desirable. My experience with the owner and customer service was worse yet.

In my opinion it’s a gimmick. I’m guilty of being a cheapskate and trying to cut corners sometimes and this is an example of my poor decision making.

Think it through. Be honest with yourself and what you’re trying to accomplish now and in the future. Then thread the muzzle.

A 7 saum recoils a lot, then 60 yards down range there’s a couple holes in the snow where something went skipping across the ground.

The measurements were correct and the instructions were followed…….

Although this thread is from 2013 and I have my barrels threaded nowadays I still have two of the Witt brakes ( one on a 300 win mag tikka which has been in elk woods many times and the other on a 7 rem mag tikka) that have been on these rifles through several rounds each for many years. They haven’t moved from when they were installed and are very effective brakes. Just my experience with them. I do prefer threaded contoured brakes now though due to not being so big.

i would love to hear from a user. known rifle with known accuracy, and what happens afterwards.
to be real effiecent the bore of the brake needs to be about 20 thou over the rifle bore....very hard to do this with a mass produced clamp on muzzle brake..... bore is not always in the center of the bbl od.....

I’m a user for quite some time. However I am strictly a 100 BR shooter. On one of my 30BR’s I have their brake. Obviously this is not a cartridge that recoil is a problem. But I wanted to try it. There was no change in accuracy. My groups stayed the same. I’ve no clue about speed as I don’t have a chronograph. Never has loosened and the attachment pic is represent what I do. Another 30BR shoots the same with no brake.
The cartridge and range I shoot might not be of interest to you but does meet your requirements as to getting an answer from someone who has one.

A dollar to a doughnut you can not tell the difference. Plus if you're unhappy send it back or get rid of it and buy a self timing or a Harrell's radial and get your barrel threaded

I absolutely cannot find anyplace on the net where a brake has to be exactly .020" over bore. I did find one that recommended .020" minimum and that is what my smith bored my first one to. I have a Thunderbeast Ultra 9 (.30 Cal ) and the brakes that stay on my barrels. They measure approximately .354". The Beast works just fine from .284 Match all the way down to 6BR for me.

I have about 6 of them and quite pleased with them. Have one I just got in and plan on putting it on my 22-250 for our varmint silhouette matches

I was browsing and came across Witt Machine clamp on muzzle brakes, does anyone have any experience with these? It seems like a good idea PROVIDED they would stay tight, as always safety is the first order of business.

I have one and it really tamps the 445 SM 240 gr bullet @ 2400 fps

I have one that was originally for a 270 cal, and then I changed barrel to 6.5 and reused the same brake without issue.
Ultimate Reloader did a test on how big a difference in recoil reduction in using a brake that’s too large.

Seems to work just fine with small reduction in efficiency.
