Windy day results 5 24 06

I had 4 loads to test yesterday...The 100 gr Sierra, 88 gr Berger match, the 75 gr V-Max & the 80 gr berger mef HP...I thought the heavy bullets would do best..The winds were 15 to 25 really flipping around clouds coming & going..The worst condition seemed to be wind in my face & then quitting...Things would seem stable but a little huff from behind would push one or three up & out of the group ...I shot maybe 8 groups & had two worth showing off..The 75 & 80 gr bullets shot over my expectations..I used wind flags & tried to pay attention to them...mike in ct

Normally I test at 200 yds...those fancy groups for show off are only 100yds...I wonder why the heavier loads did not do as well today..mike in ct

What twist are you running & what is the speed of the V-maxes?

that hart barrel is a one in ten twist..I can only guestimate the speed in FPS so I won't..sorry mike

Mike: Great shooting. I have tested the 80gr Bergers in my rifle with 8 twist Kreiger @ 28" with 32gr of N-135 and had similar results out to 200 yds. I love that bullet. However the 75gr V-max is much more explosive on impact with a varmint, so for hunting I prefer the V-max. Keep up the good work and keep us posted.

yep thats my favorite rifle,NOW!!...i built it up from an eljunko rem 700 adl 22 250 tomato stake...unquestionably the worst rifle barrel i had ever seen....3 shots the fouling was incredible...it shot patterns not groups...mike
