WindReader.com

FORUM BOSS: As of 2/15/2021, the Windreader.com website is not working. Possibly the server is down or the owner decided not to update the software. This thread originated in 2018.

I have been shooting long range BR for 10 years or so and I shoot with a bunch of guys that have shot so long, they don't know how they shoot in wind. They just do it and are VERY good at it.
I, however, am not so good at it.
Then, my friend in Australia and a partner developed a soft ware package for a Windows computer that is amazing! I was a Beta site for them so I was involved a bit in the development of it.

Using this program, like a video game, I was able to insert wind patterns similar to what I shoot in at The Sacramento Shooting Center and I could make the same scores on the soft ware that I actually shot at the range!
Then, pretty soon I could shoot even better!
Attached is an article published in "Australian Target Rifle" which is the official magazine of The National Rifle Association of Australia Limited.

Take a look, and if you are interested, you can down-load it free for 30 days.

Just went on my Favorites for after work reading.

By the way, "Tuition" in the title/introduction means "instruction" to the British speaking world!

And, a 5 point shot to the British speaking shooters means the same as a "9" to us. The USA/NRA targets reflect our use of the 10 ring instead of 6 ring.

Norm, the user can select imperial NRA or NBRSA targets scoring 10X,10,9,8 etc or ICFRA metric of imperial scoring 6X,6,5,4,3 etc, whatever your preference. Peter

Norm,

I just tried the link for download, as provided in the article, but it did not work; it said:

"HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable."

Lars was developing computerized wind flags. Sensors would determine the push and give you a relevant number to hold plus or minus. I shot off them a few times,PRETTY SLICK, But he won't SHARE.
