Wind Flags At Raton - World Champs

I coming over for the USA Nationals and the World Champs and am hoping someone can tell me if the wind flags at Raton are the standard NRA flag. If not the NRA standard wind flag does anyone have the flag dimension of what they use at the Whittington Center.

I have not measured them myself but they certainly appear to be regulation NRA flags. I have a couple of pictures from last year with flags in them but I couldn't figure out how to attach them. Send me your personal email and I will email them to you.

Last yr they looked like the standard NRA flags.

One note that I've noticed everywhere I've shot in the last 3 yrs. Everyone is using nylon flags, they are lighter and more responsive than the old cotton flags, and every wind reading guide I've ever seen that shows wind speed vs flag position is based on the old flags. I never shot with the old flags and it was driving me nuts for about a yr looking at a flag that the books said was showing a 7MPH wind then ending up with 2.5MOA on the gun. Huh!? I finally figured it out but it baffled me when I first started.

Thanks guys for your help!
I have a NRA wind flag (nylon? type) so I will fly it down here at sea level and see how much wind it takes to deflect it to the angles like in the diagrams. The air is 24% less dense at 6500' so I figure it will take 24% more wind speed for the same angle of deflection at Raton.

I'm sitting here laughing at my screen. Honestly we had some light, bizarre for Raton conditions last yr in the mornings, but when the wind blows at Raton the angle of the flag is kind of irrelevant. Straight out and riffling is the normal position I think.

As to the 6500 ASL, last yr I think our density altitude was closer to 9K if I remember correctly. My 308 took about 3.5 MOA less elevation to get to 1000 yds than it does here in Oak Ridge at 900ASL. There were a fair number of folks from Oz there last yr. You may try to get in touch with them (there is still a Kuala in my range bag for some reason).

Thanks XTR!
Maybe I'll have to analyse the angle the Elk are leaning into the breeze to get a wind reading at Raton :D
I am in touch with the Aussies that visited the range last year and they brought back a few NRA wind flags they thought might help us with our wind reading.
Look forward to meeting some of you guys in Raton come August!

Are the flags supposed to go red up or yellow up ? Should I drive a ford or a chevy? Should I drink beer or whisky? Bath or shower ? Steak or chicken ?
