I am baffled. I tried to help a friend who has a post 64 Winchester short action .243 with cheap see through mounts (china stuff). I ordered the correct 2 piece Warne bases that have the slot for Weaver type rings. I also ordered 2 Leupold Rifleman mounts for the Weaver style bases. The rings were the high height for a 50 mm scope.
Installed them and went to the range. The scope would not come up in elevation enough to get on target. It was approximately 3 feet low.
Went back to the bench, swapped the rings front for back, back for front. Same results.
Went back to the bench and swapped the bases front for back. Same results.
But the china stuff back on, re-zeroed and shot a one inch group.
The scope is a Nikon ProStaff 5 2.5-10X50
Is there something I missed or do I need to just go with new bases and rings of another style?
