Winchester model 70 help

I have a early 90,s Winchester model 70 featherweight stock that is for a 2 piece bottom metal and had a control round feed short action 243 in it. Will the new short action Winchesters and the 1 piece bottom metal drop into the stock? If the action will work but not a 1 piece bottom metal will the 2 piece bottom metal work with a newer action?

There is a height difference between the two. Without pulling one apart, I'm thinking the two pc sits deeper in the stock.

The screw patterns are the same. You should be able to just use different type bottom metal.

In other words, the 2 pic metal, old stock, new action.

Not that I've been able to find. Sometimes on E-Bay, put they ask and pay a premium for it. Trigger guard is available, the tung is available (where the front screw goes) floor plates are scarce. I've always known them as three piece, tung, floor plate and triggerguard.

Dan, they make a spacer plate ( plastic ) that will fill the space and allow the one pc to be used.

I have one you are welcome to, if you want it. I have a nice M70 stock set up for one pc metal, if you want to PM me about it.

I probably have exactly what you need! I recently had a request from a gentleman to cut his deceased brothers .243 winchester in half! I salvaged the bottom metal and the stock and I would be willing to ship you the parts, if they work send me $35.00, if they don't work ship them back to me. Hit me with a PM with your info, and I will get them out in the mail Monday.

Trust me when I tell you it made me sick doing it, my buddy and I both tried to talk him out of it. The rifle had never been fired and I tried to figure another way, but he said he was going to keep it on his desk to remember his brother, so I gave him back the portion that had the trigger attached to it and the bolt!
