Winchester model 70-did something change in 2002?

I'm looking at a Winchester factory stock for a model 70. The seller says it only fits 2002 and later models. Does anyone know what, if anything, changed that would make these stocks not fit an earlier post 64 barreled action?

Thanks,
Mike

Go to CDNN at this link http://www.cdnninvestments.com/. On page138 of thir latest catalog, there is a large selection of Winchester rifle stocks for your rifle at a reasonable price.

The only difference I can think of is the bottom metal & if it doesn't come with bottom metal you could have a problem.
I don't know of anyone that has tried to make the old interchange with the new and I don't have a new one here to look at but I know there is a difference in the inlett of the bottom metal.

I think that the 2002 and later used a one piece floor plate. There is an adapter piece that will let the later version be used with the older rifle.
