Original Winchester Model 1885 High Wall Barrel marked 22 SHORT on the Left Side of the Chamber and 22 RF on the Lower Right Side ahead of the Chamber. It is Round, (approximately) 28 Inches Long, Tapered, with Front Sight Ramped Base, and Dovetail Cut for Forearm Mounting Stud. Left side is marked in two lines: MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. / NEW HAVEN CONN, U.S.A. PATENTED OCTOBER 7, 1879. Barrel Tenon is (approximately) 0.935” Diameter x 16 t.p.i. and (approximately) 0.85” Long to fit the Large, High Wall Receiver; weight is (approximately) 3 lbs. 15 oz. The U-shaped Extractor Cut fits an 1885 .22 Extractor in our test-fit The chamber accepts .22 Long Cartridges. It looks like a Later Model Winder Musket Barrel for a Coil Mainspring Action with no dovetail cut for the leaf mainspring base. Two drilled and tapped holes on the left side, with one of them partly covering the “T” in 22 SHORT, look to be a sight or scope mount. No rear sight dovetail or screw holes also means it may be from a Musket equipped with a Lyman Receiver Sight. Please see photos to check these descriptions. The bore and rifling are in splendid and nearly like new condition. Aside from the drilled & tapped side holes, the finish condition and bluing are in very good condition for age. A Winchester Cartouche with a P over W over _I_ inside an Oval appears on top of the Chamber. Please ask any questions or set up a phone call by Personal Message/PM before bidding.
