Winchester mod 70 target trigger adj

I have a model 70 target rifle in 30-06. It looks like it was made some time in the 1970s. The rifle is basically brand new and 100% stock.
I am wondering how to adjust the trigger. There looks to be some sort of adjustment screw on top of the rear of the tang. It’s hard to see what kind of head the screw has ( it’s very recessed) and I would love to know what way to turn it.
If anyone knows how to adjust this it would be appreciated.

Thank you

1) Remove the action from the stock
2) You will see the trigger mechanism and an adjustment screw with three lock nuts and a spring as part of it.
3) Loosen the lock nuts and you will be able to reduce the spring tension as well as reduce the sear engagement if need be. Once adjusted to your liking cock the trigger and use a mallet to beat the action, top and rear of the bolt to make sure the trigger stays set. Even a match trigger needs to be safe!
4)Trigger is adjustable down to about 2.5 Ibs. with the stock spring. I have not handled a factory Winchester trigger so I have no idea if they installed the Target Spring. Ernie the Gunsmith (on the web) wells Model 70 Target trigger springs if you need a lighter trigger weight. Before changing the spring, determine if there is too much take-up in the sear. If so I would advise a trip to the gunsmith for stoning. Otherwise the Target spring will allow a sub-2 Ib. trigger weight (mine has been stoned and can go as low as 8 oz. but I keep it at 1.25 Ibs. for a match rifle).
5) If nothing about the above makes sense, take the rifle to a gunsmith and/or buy a Timney Trigger while they are still making them.
