Winchester introduces the 21 Sharp

Looks like they've taken a 22LR case and put a non healed bullet in it. Wonder if it will go the way of the 17 HM2 or even the 5mm rem mag.

Total joke that niche is long since filled, now try to find the ammo, barely any if any 17HMR, hornet, wsm available.

I am still puzzling on why the 17HM2 didn't fly. I want to build one, but costs are ridiculous. When a 581 is going for 6-700 dollars....plus barrel and smithing.

I'm gonna take a long-shot guess here and predict that it's going to fill the "non-lead" plinker/varmint market. Probably with a new proprietary lead free bullet. One that combines high accuracy, flat trajectory, and explosive impact.

At least that's my guess, and it's as good as anyone's.;) jd

Wow. Non heeled bullet. I feel like a dunce as I have no clue just WTH that is....
I had to look it up: the heeled part of a .22 bullet is the bit inserted into the brass. So if it’s not a heeled bullet, it will only be as wide as the inside of the brass, which is closer to .21 then .22.

If Winchester is making the ammo, I doubt we see anything “match” about it.
The idea of a RF with a projectile that isnt lead and subjective to a more effective BC profile just may be more productive than one would think. NRL22 guys will be this if it has accuracy.

We would ALL be happier if Winchester was able to keep up production on current cartridges and MAYBE JUST MAYBE improve their quality. This is a non starter for me.

Warning - offtopic rant ahead

They need to send their guys to Schoenebeck, Germany to learn how it's done. I have never figured out why American rimfire ammo makers put out such crap. CCI makes decent low end ammo with their Std Vel but their premium Greentag sucks

Or find the folks who made Federal Ultra Match but they and their machines are probably no longer working.

another solution looking for a problem in my opinion but what the hey Hornady made a .243 Win lite and 260 Rem lite called them Creedmoor and they sold like hotcakes
yep. extremely smart marketing campaign

A lot of good ideas have been ruined with poor marketing.

“Build it and they will come” attitude doesn’t work well.
There has to be either a need, or a better mouse trap so to speak.

Maybe it's changed in recent years but awhile back CCI Green Tag was "selected" lots of CCI SV. I was told that by our CCI rep at the time. Like most 22 LR some lots shot good and some lots weren't any better than run of the mill CCI SV. I haven't bought Green Tag since I learned that and I could buy it for dealer cost back then. I do keep some CCI SV on hand to use for informal steel shooting. It does on out of my Ruger MKII Gov't

“Creedmoor” begs to differ. It can work to start a new fad.
