Winchester factory ammo

Does anyone have a contact at Winchester that I can talk to about issues a friend is having with Winchester ammo in 284, shoot from a Winchester model 88. We were looking at some cases and found 4 that have splits about 1/4 inch above the extractor groove about a 1/2 inch long that run toward the neck. I was hoping to get a cell phone number so I could send some pictures.

May as well go ahead and box up that whole lot you have and send em in. It wont do any good to send em pics. If they have any in the warehouse youll just get a new box they could care less about actually testing or recalling unless somebody gets hurt

Here is the link to the contact page on the Winchester Ammo site, a different company then the firearms.

I had Winchester 28 Gauge AAs with split cases. 18 out of a flat of 250. They sent me a prepaid UPS sticker and I sent them back. The told me that they had received a bad batch of bulk brass, which was what had caused it. Not sure if this is the same issue, but they did take care of me.

If they get the brass back they can tell. Aren't going to know over the phone, I would think.

Does your friend's M88 have similar problems with other brass? If it's the rifle, I'd expect similar problems with other brass; if it doesn't, then I'd expect the problem to be the cartridges. I had a problem with some Winchester cartridges several years ago and at the time the ammo was about 20 years old. I contacted Winchester about it - the result was a scathing letter from Winchester indicating that I should never shoot such old ammo.

Bought a used 1911 45ACP from a friend..Couple days later I picked up a box of Winchester 45 acp ammo at Sportsman's Warehouse.. At the range I couldn't hit a 8 1/2X11 sheet of paper at 15 yards. talked to the guy I bought gun from and he suggested different ammo. I didn't think that would make a difference but I did. It was different as night and day. I got a great group at 15 yards and beyond. I went home to see what the difference in the ammo was. The Winchester bullets were .44" in diameter and the new bullets that grouped good were .451" diameter.
That was about 20 years ago and that was the last time I bought Winchester Ammo...Period!!!

Kinda doubt that Winchester has any of their 284 loaded ammo available to swap out. They've been unavailable on shelves for years. I have a couple boxes that I purchased in 2012 but couldn't find any after that. Those were in the shelf of a bad road country store in the U.P. of Michigan. I contacted Winchester about finding more and they simply said they only will continue making brass in the future. The loaded ammo was discontinued. I still load for a Winchester model 100 in 284 and so it's kinda picky about bullets and OAL.

Id just pull the rest and reload. Or trash em theres too many ways to go about loading a 284 than to waste time worrying about factory loads that are questionable and win wont do anything about em anyway

i bought 2K pcs of Win brass through Powder Valley.. Winchester not only sent me a recall tag for return shipping.. they fully reimbursed me as well.. so to say that Win won't do something about it is not entirely true..

They did not ship me any replacement ammo, but did send me a voucher for well over the value of the 18 rounds that I sent them.
