Winchester Coyote Value

I have a 22-250 Coyote. Brown laminate stock. 350-400 rounds.

I have decided to sell, any thoughts of where to start pricing it?

thanks.

.22/250 is a bastard cartridge half-way twixt .223 Remington and .243 Winchester. The question is Coyote load or Deer load! While a .223 Remington could cull a deer, it wasn't truly meant for that usage. A .243 Winchester was not actually meant to quell Woodchucks, but serves well as a large deer round with 100 grain loads. My .243 Deer loads would rip a coyote a new, LARGE, unneeded hole. Most fur buyers would balk at a massive .243 hole through the fur of a coyote they purchased at a lesser price. Stuck in the middle of total fury and acceptible hole-size damage, where does a massively-potent .22/250 truly fit? cliffy

Above is another post by Cliffy editorializing on something completely unrelated to the original post. I continue to be amazed how he can spout off on so many subjects as if he alone holds the secret answer to every question. The .22-250 has been around along time, and is extremely popular. He calls it a bastard? Hmmmmm.......

Wow, I missed posting in this viable thread for over 120 days. .204 Ruger, .223 Remington, .22/250 Remington, and .243 Winchester are all relevant regarding varmint hunting. I'm sure many wildcatter cartridges will also qualify as VARMINT killers. From the "POP" of a .22 Hornet, to the shoulder bruise of a .243 Winchester, each varmint round has its virtues and disappointments. Coyote Value entails pelt value, and if so, .22 caliber centerfires are top-dogs with correct bullets that don't penetrate both sides of the animule.
The bullet becomes more relevant than the caliber choice. Even the ultra-mighty .220 Swift bullet can be downloaded to a viable pelt saver with the selection of a 36 grain Barnes Varmint Grenade bullet. Since a .223 Remington load can be the most practical pelt-saver, AR-15 style rifles shall remain in vogue. Cliffy

Cliffy,
Refer to my above post. Buckbrush said nothing of hunting coyotes or any other varmint in his post. The model of the rifle is the Coyote, made by Winchester, and described perfectly by Frank in the second post.

If Winchester had called the rifle the Kodiak, would you have told us whether or not the 22-250 was a good bear cartridge, and which bullets to use?

On a personal note, I am glad to see you back on the site. I hope all is well.
Scott

I looked at the Winchester Coyote line of rifles when I was considering buying a new "factory" .243 and i was apalled at the MSRP of these guns. Way more pricey than a comparable Remington. Winchester needs to sharpen their pencil. The guns may be made by Browning now but damn!

I would ask $500 or more for your coyote, the rifle. Here in Wyoming we love the 22-250 for coyote, the dog. Dead lamb $75-$125, dead calf $500-$750, good coyote $20. So skin all you want big hole or small, the value is in the dead dog, and the 22 250 is one of the best for that.
