Winchester Brass

After a 5-6 year drought I actually came across some 6mm Remington brass made by Winchester, at Cabella's. I was delighted to actually find the 6mmRemington but was somewhat hesitant because there have been some less than stellar reviews on Winchester brass posted on this site in the past few months. One poster complained about having to cull 8-10% of the brass, it was a different caliber, due to defects and deformities in the brass.

I just finished priming the brass after running it through the resizing die and I've got to say I'm delighted with the quality of the product. Not one dent or deformity, the primer pockets are clean and properly sized, every piece passed the scrutiny test. I don't know if Winchester made some major retooling changes or purchased new machinery but something's changed and it's for the better. Lastly, I actually got 51 pieces in both of the 50 count bags. Thank you Winchester!

I recently purchased some 8x57 brass from Winchester and am very pleased with acceptable uniformity and properly formed primer pockets.

This is good news because in the past I would find 3 to 5% defects in a bag of 100, every bag. By defects I mean split necks, cold laps in the shoulder area making the cases unusable.

I like Winchester brass but the defects and unavailably made me try Hornady brass. So far I've been very pleased with the Hornady (223 Rem), no defects in three 50 piece bags I purchased. Loaded about 12 times and all seems fine to this point.

About a month ago I purchased a bag of 7nn/08 Win brass . I was very well pleased with the entire bag. They were real constant from case to case. This led me to purchase another bag last week of 25/06. Of the 50 initial cases I had to throw away 9. Eight had case neck and /or shoulder splits, and one had a bad primer pocket. I guess iwhen I need brass in the future I'll look for another make unless I can find some Win cases locally so I can have a look at them first. 9 culled cases out of 50 is just too much.

I shot 6mm Winchester brass for a long time. 6 mm remy is very easy on brass. I think I still have 2 bags that have never been opened

I just saw several boxes of Honrandy Brass, 6mm Rem in a local gun shop. Surprised to say the least

I to went to cabeas to buy 200 25-06 Winchester brass but it was all beat up and looked like crap! the people there let us go through all the new brass they had and after a hour we finally found 200 we could use. thanks to the people there.

No matter what the brand of brass, if you find some that's truly unusable for a QC issue, let the manufacturer know! Most will be more than happy to make it right for you, and if you can provide the lot number involved, that should help them track down the QC issue that caused the problem in the first place. The result is better brass down the road as the problems are corrected.
