Winchester 70?

I have a winchester model 70 in .270 that has a pecil thin barrel...and I was wondering how big a deal it would be to change barrels? I have never changed a factory rifles barrel so I dont know anything about it. I was wondering how that works and how much money I would be lookin at?

Un-like Savage, our Win's and Rem's are not something we can rebarrel without a "Smith's" help. Don't know for sure, but it seems it runs about $150-$250 plus the price of the barrel..more if the barrel is unfinished.,un-chambered)..I could be wrong, but that was about right the last time I looked to have my 700 Rem rebarreled.
I've been thankful to have learned from folks on the Web here, how to do my own on the Savages....so my Remmy is still a .280....lol
A search on the internet sites will give you closer prices I'm sure...Hope that hepls some.
