Winchester 70 pre-war bedding

I have a pre-war model 70 30-06 in "shooter" original condition. Original barrel, wood stock. I've pulled it out of safe, cleaned it and shot it. I have not borescoped it, but the barrel looks OK to the naked eye. It is a 2MOA rifle with cheap ammo. I'll be handloading, replacing the trigger spring and trying to get it to a 1MOA.

thinking about glass bedding the action as a next step. How do you do that with the barrel nut thru the forend? Bed that contact point at the same time? or bed the entire forend? I've bedded several round bottomed actions, but not the flat bottom.....

Don't want to really change the appearance such as new stock, new barrel etc. Will stick it back in safe and leave it alone if that is best...

Try shooting it without the screw installed in the forearm and you may be pleasantly surprised. Removing the screw has helped a lot of pre-'64 rifles shoot better.
