Winchester 52 rebarrel

That “camel” barrel CZ suggested above by 52D actually became my son’s favorite .22. Named that because the style of barrel was intentionally long such that it would not frighten the camel when fired.

We don’t have any camels, but it is extremely accurate and light, got the best sling I have ever bought, custom from Alito, Texas and won’t hold back juniors in match shooting one bit.

... won’t hold back juniors in match shooting one bit.
Except for the lack of aperture sights, an adjustable sling fitting, any way to vary stock length, and the long reach to the trigger.

Yes, this would be suitable for teaching basic marksmanship skills, but it is a far cry from a match rifle. Weight is not the only factor. @1813benny 's suggestion of an older Match 64 Anschutz would be better IMO.

I'm not sure what kind of shooting the kids are enjoying. 3 position?
Or what specific variation of 52s the club has?
But if club has 6. 52 B, C D position rifles with sites. Palm and hand rests, slings. ?
1000 each is starting value.
A 52d , runs about 10 lbs plus accessories.
A new 1761 position rifle is 9.5 lbs .
So weight loss isn't significant.
I placed 2nd in NJ state finals at 12 years old with 1960s Anschutz 54Match.
Once strapped in correctly, the weight wasn't a issue.
And that was 50 years ago when we didn't have such things as rifle rest stands to hold the rifle between shots like modern competition allows lol.
