Winchester 52 ready for ELR

I just about have my 52B ready for an ELR match to 550yds in a couple weeks. I was doing some ammo testing and probably shot the best 5 shot group at 100yds I have ever shot with a 22lr. Of course the 5th shot went high and blew the group open some but this rifle really shoots, this group was with Federal 922A. I haven't altered anything on the rifle that can't be undone which is important on these old rifles. I just need to machine up the rear scope base support for an added piece of mind.

Good shooting!

I have a aluminum EGW rail on one of my D's and didn't like the scope hanging out on the end so I made a bracket that uses the rear Redfield base to stabilize the scope mount. It's rock solid now. There is a extra hole you'll see in one of the images, I broke a tap off and didn't feel like making the piece again. I don't know if something like this will work on a B though.

Nice to see someone using a "vintage" rifle for a discipline that requires serious performance like ELR. I also have a 52B Target (1937), that had a 20X Unertl on it when I bought it. I've never tried it at longer ranges, but short range, it will out shoot my ability any day of the week.

Good Luck!

One year we had no snow cover and a lot of red fox, I was shooting 4-7 a day. I was trying to eliminate any chance of sewing fur, with no snow cover approaching inside 50 yards was easy. My hunting buddy had a M52 with a 12x scope, I started toting that out on shorter walks on the sleeping fox. Easy to get to 35 yards, sit down with sticks and shot the fox right between the eyes. Made the fur buyer very happy.

That's pretty slick. My plan is to use the huge rear sight dovetail and do the same thing with a block fit in the dovetail and mounts to the rear of the base.

Bkl has an adjustable base and ring setup.

I haven’t touched after my initial setup
I use it on my 10meter air rifle to zero at 30yds and dial to 100

I had mine drilled and tapped, 20moa rail never looked back, I've shot this out to 400 yards, I believe with a 30moa I can get out past 500. Very competitive NRL22 rig

Usually takes a 50moa base and an SWFA to direct dial to 500 yards. Around 96moa or 28mil with std velocity stuff. At least that is what my 40x needs.

Nice 52 you have there.

Top, Which magnification of SWFA is your choice for long range and which reticle, moa or mil? You probably have more experience with them than anyone I know of.
