Wilson Trimer Issue

Martin,
Frank sugested the K&M so I immediatly ordered one in fact I order both sizes of them straight from K&M, the delivery time was twice as fast as Sinclair or Midway. I had a shoot here @ my place yesturday so I spent the lastcouple of days loading getting ready for the shoot and all I can say is WOW about the K&M reamer tool it did a great job, a little slower than others maybe but a nice even cut, since I read your post I went down to the loading room and checked, I couldn't find any lines in the chamfer I wonder if you have a nick in your cutter? The only down side I could see in the system was a lack of directions. The directions said 1/32" or .031 so I tried .030".....
Wrong >:( it must have cut it 1/8" deep so I went .010 from case mouth to wire stops on tool, it was still deeper than .031" but I liked the looks of the cut so I left it there so I didn't have any more expensive fouler brass ??? I will take some old brass and do some playing so I understand how to set it properly like I should have done to start with but was in a hurry, good luck with yours.

Wayne,

Yes, I really like the quality in the K&M tool although I'll have to return mine for checking, I think the spindles are out of alignment. It was working fine for about 12 months then just got really hard to control.

memilanuk's has it. I was having the same problem with a fired 6BR case holder till I bought a new one. I thought the center hole was out of alignment with the outside of the case holder. But it may have been an OD problem. Some of the shell holders I have now vary in OD by .002” from one end to the other. Wish I could find that old bad case holder.
And like johara1 says, turn the holder while you turn the crank to get a more even cut.

Maybe thats why I haven't seen any problems, I have my Machinist build my case holders, turns them on a Brown&Sharp, there as about as close to perfect as you can get. Although I have several factory ones I bought when I first purchased the trimmer and haven't noticed any problems with my cases. I do remember giving Paul one of the factory shell holders and a case of what I wanted a new case holder built for and when I picked up the new one he stated @ the time the one he made was much more concentric and smooth than the original one.
