wilson micrometer seater

Looking at the micrometer seater for the 30br.. It looks like a person still uses the set screw on the stem. Is that correct?? Or can you fine tune by just turning the micrometer??

The set screw is just for gross adjustment of the seating stem length. I personally set it so the micrometer is near the zero mark for my longest-loaded bullets.

Then you can screw down the micrometer to adjust seating depth. Sometimes, if there is an extreme difference between one bullet type and another, you might have to re-adjust the stem, but normally you make all your adjustments with the indexed micrometer top.

I haven't tried it yet, but I bet if you measure the length of the seater stem assembly it would be easy to adjust it to whatever length you need. One revolution is .040".
