Wilson Dies for Wildcats.....?

I need to get die sets for my upcoming 20-250 AI and 22-243 AI... and was wondering about using the Wilson hand die sets.

The more I watch them being used on youtube, the more I like their simple... yet precise, reloading ability.

My question is...

What are your thoughts on using Wilson dies -VS- Redding S Type Dies... and... can I use Wilson dies with these wildcat calibers...?

Thanks...Dan

You can buy a Wilson seater blank in whatever caliber you are using and have your gunsmith use the chamber reamer on it to make yourself a custom seater dye.

Never heard of anyone doing the same for a neck sizer, check Wilson's cartridge list though, they have quite a few listed.

Wilson sizing dies neck size ONLY. If you keep loads on the light side (always) you possibly can get away without ever bumping shoulders....but most who build Ackleys like to run 'em fast.

Also Wilson neck dies only size the very end of the neck and not all the way to the shoulder. That being said it would be very difficult to find a die for sizing a wildcat. I really like Wilson dies but for wildcats I have gone to the Vickerman Seater and custom fl bushing style sizing dies. Tom

Was thinking after my previous post that a Redding bushing die in 22-250 AI with a bushing for 20 caliber and then a 243 AI bushing die with a 22 caliber bushing would work for sizing as that die allows you to size as much of the neck as you want by adjusting the depth of the bushing. Not 100% sure but I think that would work. Tom

Tom... I do think that will be the way I'll have to start out.

Looks like the Redding S Series die setup will have to be part of this equation.

Now... if I can just find the stuff I need....Hmmmm...

thanks guys.... Dan
