WILSON CASE TRIMMER

i just bought a wilson case trimmer. i did not get the micro adj. one. i wish i had. with the corse threads on the case stop it is very hard to make a .001 adj. has any one put on a fine thread case stop? it also looks like if the bushing that the case stop bolt goes throu was 3/4" long instead of 1/2" it would be better. has any one changed one?

i use mine without a stop and micro adj. i set it to where the trimmer cuts to the desired oal, and about every 30 cases, i measure to see if it has moved. usually i dont have to change the setting--if i think i have bumped it i again will measure it. very rarely do i have to change it because it moved.

the case stop i am talking about is the threaded bolt that the case head backs up to as the cutter cuts the other end. you adjust this bolt to cut the case to different oal. it is a corse thread bolt and would be easer to adjust if it were a fine thread.

I'm loading for thirteen calibers so upgraded to the micro-adjustment. Absolutely worth the money. Totally repeatable, accurate and solid. For the effort to make and change out the bushing it seems like it would be worth it. As soon as you start loading for another caliber it is definitely a no-brainer.

I got the Sinclair/Wilson Ultimate trimmer for X-mas, the intention was to replace a Redding trimmer w/o micrometer adjustment.
The Sinclair/Wilson is absolutely fantastic! Cuts great, adjusts easily, and is less hassle than working with pilots. I think the upgrade would definitly be worth the price.

Since I bought a full set of Sinclair Chamber Length Gages, I have not needed to trim any brass. Most chambers are well over SAAMI maximum length. Measuring them will tell you when you really need to trim. I trim a lot less than previously.

A sampling of chamber lengths from my rifles: Rem 40XBR .223 - 1.777, Savage 12F 6BR factory barrel - 1.573, McGowen .308 - 2.038
