will vinegar harm the inside of a barrel?

If I were to use vinegar to remove blueing from a barrel, would the vinegar hurt the bore/ untreated metal inside the barrel?

Ive seen barrels soaked in a really heavy duty mixute of muratic and hydrochloric acid remove blueing with no signs of damage to the metal. Is vinegar even strong enough to remove blueing? it would be a first ive heard of it. Someone here would know.

Good question. I set some small pieces in a dish of vinegar and after about 30 min they were completely stripped. Took them out, wiped them off and put a light film of gun oil on them for now.

Kitchen vinegar is approx 5% acetic acid. I also would expect it to etch steel in time. Sorry I don't know how long it might take.
