Will new brass shoot to a different P.O.I

Went to the range this morning to do some shooting with the six br..

Noticed with the 10 pieces of new never fired Lapua brass that the
shots went to the right..They were in a pretty good group..

I wondered if it was due to the fact the brass had never been fired
befor..All I did was run them thru the F.L sizer die..Thanks. Cocopuff

Once fired brass will usually give better accuracy as a rule.
That is not cut in stone though...

In my experience I see no difference. If your now shooting to the right I'd say it does not have anything to do with the brass.

NO MUZZLE VELOCITY TAKEN=but the loads were the same with the twice fired brass..Only with the new brass, shots went to the right about 2 inch's.

It depends on the volume difference between the new cases and the fired cases. That can cause a pressure difference that can affect barrel timing and therefore group POI. I have seen this difference in POI between new and fired brass, but never a 2" difference. Of course that depends on distance, too, and you didn't say what distance. I've seen quarter inch or so differences at 100 yards, which would translate to a 2" difference at 800 yards.

The bigger your chamber, the greater the volume difference will be. Don't know what rifle would have a chamber that big though. My Savage chambers in 6BR are just as tight as my custom ones.

I also see a difference between new and x fired brass. I tumble clean my brass and think that the carbon in the neck has something to do with it.

I've been told by the more serious shooters that they'll run two loads through their brass before firing for effect.

Are those two firings/loadings based on what that case will see for the rest of its life- or are they downloaded sort of like a fire forming load?

Appreciate your replies--I think I have found the answer to the problem..

And that was that my powder charge was too low and I was also sooting

up the brass..Be glad when my Berger book gets here...

And by the way the distance was at 350 yards, thats why at first I thought

maybe it was due to the new brass...Thanks again...
