Will lack of ammo and components push DOWN the price of firearms?

Lack of ammo will ultimately hurt gun sales. I believe ammo will be very tough for 2-4 years. Gun prices will soften before then.

I could see the market for competition rifles softening if this component shortage lasts long enough. Nobody panic buys benchrest guns.

All the shops around here keep ammo held back for new gun purchases, granted its only a few box’s but at least they have access to a little so I think it will allow them to still sell the guns they receive. I did go into a local pawn shop that sells guns and they had guns and ammo in stock so if you check the off the beaten path places you can still find guns and ammo. Their prices were pretty normal as well, I was pretty shocked.

I have 6 gun ranges within 20 miles of me. I do hope members
continue to support these considering the problems of lack of
components. No shooting components can be a disaster if
memberships drop, and the property tax bills come due. It's not
like it would happen over night, but.......

Our range has a Long range competition side with target carriers at 600 and 1k and steel out to 1k. Have to be qualified by the safety officer or a match director to use that side so it’s mostly experienced shooters who participate in the competitions. Those guys are pretty well stocked and there’s always people there every weekend.

However the short range side with pistol targets and steel out to 200 used to be packed every weekend and now there’s only one or two people there if anybody.

I could see that happening too. I for one have been hankering for a 30BR or a 6BRA, but with a dwindling supply of small rifle primers and no appropriate powder it ain't going to happen. Won't buy what I can't feed. Of course in the overall firearms market, this is less than a drop in the bucket.

with no ability for anyone new to the hobby able to shoot a firearm, one can only assume that the demand will diminish and new owners will be turned away due to ammo cost and lack there-of. Anyone else think we might see a DECREASE in the cost of new and used firearms?

maybe its just me being hopeful.....but it makes sense to me....
Nope!

Gas is already going up... Everything else is soon to follow... Guns and ammo show no signs of slowing down sales wise and won't for a few years in my opinion... As someone stated no one has said gun ban yet but when that happens sh$t will really hit the fan... But what these morons are going to do to the economy is what should be scaring you... The 2022 election will be extremely important.... After that it's a waiting game , after the damage these guys inflict I think their following will turn on them once they find out the free crap isn't going to happen , we all know nothing is free , some don't yet... Don't let this crap worry you to much , there's nothing we can do about it... These idiots wanted this and I hope they get their fill... I will make my decision on things as they happen...

EDIT.. I work at a gun range and there's still plenty of people joining and shooting... It's amazing how busy we have been , there's more people shooting now than before....

I have started(more vigilant) to vote with my wallet, any sport, celebrity, business that has/is supporting any antifa, marxist(you know who that is),democrat activity I will not watch or purchase from. It's hard but we have to hit back somehow, and it is apparent MONEY is power. Nba,Nfl,Mlb, all the major networks. I keep adding to the list.

I started 2 yrs ago. Missed it for about a month, found other ways to occupy my time. I doubt you will see many do this. I hear guys at matches bitch about the kneeling or whatever and 5 min later they are telling what they are going to bbq for the next weekend's game. I agree holding the money would stop a lot of bs but I do not think you will see it happen. I just read today that NFL viewership is down but it still is way ahead of the closest competitors.

Believe it or not this is a good time to buy and resell later, Probably in the next 4-8 years.
Price of firearms ain't going down.

I worry about my LGS. He's done very well in the last year but with no inventory to sell right now, I am thinking he has tough times ahead. Whenever I stop in there, a bunch of people are standing around not buying anything because nothing is on the shelves. To help him out, I have been doing some trading lately. Last week I traded a modern semi auto pistol and some ammo for a Civil war Colt. We both came out ahead. Hopefully the local gun shops can stay in business through these times when they have little to sell.

My guess is that the price of ammo and components won't affect guns sales that much. All the ammo in the world is useless without the firearm to shoot it in. If you have the firearm then you can scrounge at least some ammo or components somewhere.

Hmm. If gun sales have gone up and ammo production is at an all time high - someone is selling them. Maybe LGS's are selling everything they get - just don't have any inventory?
But, overall, places that sell guns and ammo have to be doing record level of business - yes?
