Will Berger bring out a .224 90gn hybrid?

Now that bullet makers and most other suppliers seem to be catching up with the shortages over the last few years, do you think Berger will come out with a Hybrid version of their .224 90gn pill?

Eventually we'll offer Hybrid designs in .224, however I don't think it will be a 90 grain. The heaviest .224 Hybrid bullet will probably be low to mid 80's. But the design hasn't been done yet so I don't know for sure.

A 115 ish hybrid in 6mm may end world hunger , cure cancer , prevent the shingles virus , and stop global warming . Come on Bryan - give peace a chance !

The 105 Hybrid has eyes for the center of the target. Can't explain it better than that. I don't shoot it, but I load it for my wife and I also run enough matches to know there is no reason to look anywhere else for a 6mm target bullet.

since the bullet has to be into the lands about 15 thou to make it work well, I would guess that you will tink on a 84 grain column type byllet that will not need to be INTO THE LANDS so that when asked to remove your bolt without clearing the gun (as happens in a lot of f-class matches I think) there will be no need to worry about the bullet sticking and thus violating the rules or procedures, just a thought,
the current bullet works well and I have found that if you weigh your powder change to the one-hundreth of a grain, and test all loads to the 3 hundreths of a grain there is no IN AND OUT OF TUNE FROM DAY TO DAY, the load works period, it is just some do not take the time to really develope the proper load,

Brian,

I have some of the 105 Hybrids and will test them. Biggest problem so far is keeping case load, % combustion completeness and MV in a reasonable range with a .243, since I have to keep things under 3kf/s. Heavier is nicer is some aspects.

Thanks,
DocB

DocB,
Out of curriosity, why are you limited to 3000 fps? Is it a limitation of steel targets, range safety fan?
Regardless of the reason, I now understand your desire for a heavier bullet.

Funny thing, when I asked about a .224 80 grain re-design two weeks ago, There wasn't a single response. What gives?

Dunno about his use case, but around here, most tactical rifle matches have upper limits on MV to prevent cratering the (expensive) AR500 steel targets.

A .224 hybrid 95ish grains with a 330 g7 would put an end to 308 users in F/Tr. C'mon Brian yall can do it, I'll order a 6 twist in a heartbeat.

Brian and memilanuk,

All of the above. Range fan and target damage. PM if you would like specific details.

I'd be very happy with either a 80gr. .223 hybrid or a .243 115 hybrid. Well, at least if the .243 hybrid would work with 8 twist barrels. I don't know if this is possible. I've tested the .243 115s VLDs in several rifles, an 8 twist is not enough.

I would be happy with some bullets which work in 7" twist.
A 90gn .224 hybrid should help to keep the little mouse gun up there with the 308s with less recoil and component costs.

This thread is not about yall 6mm shooters with plenty of bullet choices, it's about us .224 shooters with 1. Stay the course ;D

Amen to that 247!! With a 7.7 twist I have the 80SMK and the 80SMK and the 80SMK!!!!!!! They shoot great but I sure would like to try something else a bit heavier. 8)
