wildcat process

i recently read an article in 'precision shooting' about a cartridge based on the 22-250 that sounded interesting. if i wanted to rebarrel a rifle to this chambering, what is the process/protocal for copying someone else's wildcat?

You're pretty much free to go for it. The only roadblock would be if the design was patented or copyrighted, not likely) or if the designer considers it to be proprietary and reamer makers were reluctant to grind a reamer for you,not very likely either).

Have the courtesy to use the same name as the designer and not try to name it for yourself. Of course, you're free to do that if you want but if you ever happen to meet the originator in person, the chances are that he will be armed.;)

thanks. i'm interested in the cartridge not naming rights, credit goes where it's deserved. i think i've just embarked on a new project!

If you call a reamer maker and say you want so-and-so's reamer, they may or may not do it......depending on whether or not it's considered proprietary and whether the reamer guy knows you have permission. Even so, all you need to do is get your brass then spec out what you want and give them some numbers.
