wideners 168 grn 30cal bullets

Hello all,

I purchased several of the 'mil spec' 168 grn bullets from wideners, but am having seating problems in my .308 win. I've been neck sizing with the lee collet die.

However, when I go to seat to proper depth 2.8' the bullet falls in!! I have no problems with any other bullet I've ever used, sierra, combined tech, hornady...

Can anyone give me information on these bullets? I thought they'd be great for plinking....

thanks,

They are a very pointy bullet. I load them long and single load them in a Rem 700 LH. I also had the same problem you are having. I started neck sizing almost the whole neck when doing mag length ammo and I was fine. When loaded long I only do about half the neck. You may also want to sort the bullets for better ammo. I just started weighing them to sort them and I am getting much better accruacy but still get the odd flier. I am thinking I may have to sort by bearing length also.

On a good calm day I have fired a few .25MOA groups at 500 with them. Granted most of the bullets are always in a tight little knot but will have the odd flier that will bring it back to a MOA at the distance.

I also have a AR-10T and I can not get them to shoot any better than a inch at 100yds. I did try some of those 175gr FMJBT bullets they are claiming at match and they do shoot pretty darn well from my AR-10T. I can shoot them on good days .5 to .75MOA at 500yds. I am not that comfortable with this rifle like I am with my 700.

They are indeed a very pointy bullet.

Thanks for the reply people, May I ask, how are you sorting them besides weight? I suppose you use a stoney point comparator?
