Widen R700 ejector pin slot?

I faintly remember a post several months ago where the poster filed the slot on the ejector pin slot wider to allow the spring to push the ejector to out a little further. I believe this was in relation to Fireball length cases in a 223 action. But - my excellent memory of the thread has evaporated ........ I don't remember the symptom this was the cure for - has anybody heard of this? I don't have any issues but I thought this was a novel "fix" to file away.

thanks
I'll print the replies... ha ha.

Try it. Brownell’s will solve your woes if it doesn’t work.

I recently had to turn down an ejector pin that was proud and touching the tenon. If you plan to make the ejector go proud, it may hit the tenon. I don't recommend this.

Very minimal slotting is all that’s needed. The ones that I’ve done do not extend beyond the outer lip of the bolt and presents no problems.

If you do this, you may not be able to close the bolt smoothly. If the ejector is too proud it holds the bolt back off the closing cams. I cant stand the way that makes a bolt run. This is why Bat's ejector location is no longer where it was...
