Wide variations in reloading manuals

I'm still doing some background before attempting to reload for my 6-284. I recently purchased several new manuals with 6-284 data, that's were the problems started.
80-85 gr. bullet
A.
H4350 max charge 44.8
H4831 max charge 51.0
RE22 max charge 51.5
85 gr. bullet
B.
H4350 max charge 52.0
H4831 max charge 56.5

In deciding on starting charge weights for an 87 gr. bullet I'm already looking at a 10% difference in recommended max charges in the manuals. I have located information from two sources that show a max charge of 54 gr. RE22 with an 87vmax. I realize that different bullets have different bearing surface lengths, and each rifle chamber is different, but I can't recall such large differences in max charge weights when loading previously.

Based on the above what is a reasonable place to start with my load development?

thanks for the info. I know there are no shortcuts, I guess I should just work my way up and be happy with it. After spending several hours on the net here's what I found for 87vmax.

Two sources who showed max charge of 54 gr RE22
One source with a max charge of 53 gr RE22,85gr)

Two sources showing max charge of 53gr H4350

Two sources showing max charge of 56gr H4831

One source showing max charge of 53gr RE19

H4350 and RE19 appear to be the velocity powders, but RE22 seems to be recommended more often. I'm still waiting on the barrel.

Thanks again.

I've reloaded for 40+ years and always start low and work up, checking carefully for signs of excessive pressure. Usually, I'm looking for accuracy over velocity, anyway, so as I work up in small increments I check the accuracy. A year ago I purchased a chronograph,I should have done so much earlier now that they are not too expensive). Check powder weight with velocity and compare with the manuals. When you start getting close to the upper velocity in any manual be particularly careful as, or if, you go with more powder in tiny increments. Velocity is based on pressure over the time in the barrel, burn time and barrel time).

I've been frustrated, too, with the differences shown in the various manuals, but read carefully the test parameters. What gun/barrel, primer, case, seating depth. Variations in seating depth make a big difference from the same gun/powder combination. Test barrels will have different, usually tighter, chambers, but not always.
