Wide front rest w/ a narrow stock

South Bay Rod & Gun Club in Dulzura. Yes, I do go to Pala but it is 47 miles and takes a little longer. Kind of a toss-up between the two. SBR&G has better facilities but Pala has longer range.

If you shoot F-class rifles there is a 200 thru. 600 yrd. match this Sunday at Pala. You may shoot from the bench or prone.
The match requires 60 rds. minimum plus about 20 for sight settings. Small club match, usually about 20 shooters.

I have a caldwell br rest,I stopped a leather work shop and asked the same question.I ended up with a 11/2 inch wide strip of leather that has been formed to fit into the bag, were the strip contacts the bag vertically he sewed in two small leather blocks to narrow up the opening and the end of the strip slips between the bag and the metal plates that hold the bag into the forearm. It's not perfect but it helps a lot I have two savages with factory stocks and it holds them pretty well. The guy didn't even charge me for it,he just told me to tell my friends were I got it.

I took a thin leather belt and folded one end into a leather block like described. I then sewed it together and pounded a crease into it. After a couple trials and errors, I got the width right and folded another leather block on the other end. Sewed and creased it too.

What a simple solution, and it works great.
