Why isn't 6mm rem mentioned for tactical rifle matches

I am new to the tactical rifle competition scene and have been looking into calibers. I have noticed a ton of talk about .243, 6mm BR, 6XC, etc. I don't see the 6mm Rem as a choice for tactical match competition? Can't it do anything the .243 can do? I have a 6mm rem and wonder if I should trade it for a .243.

The 6mm Remington(.244 Remmington) is acctually superior to the .243Win. Slightly more case capacity and longer neck. Back in its day the 6mm Remington and 222 Remington were as good as one could get. Lapua made great brass for it. It has fallen off the chart because the 6mm BR and 6mmPPC have proved even more superior in short range Benchrest. Accuracy, ecconomy, and less recoil have become the dominate words in target shooting.

For long range predator shooting the .243 Winchester, 6mm Remington, 6mmRemington Ackley, and the 6mm/284 have been the four 6s to beat.

There has been a whole new world of 6mm developed over the last 15 years, ie: 6mmBRX, 6mmDasher, 6mm Creedmore, 6mmXC, 6mm x 47, and the list goes on.

No doubt the 6mm cartridges are here to stay. They are most likely the best of all worlds, accuracy, ecconomy, and ease of shooting.

Also the 6mm Rem when used with the longer/heaveier bullets really needs a Long Action, vs stuffing them back into the case with a Short Actions mag length.

Rustystud pretty well summed it up.. I have owned a 6mm Rem (244 rem-12 twist Shilen on a rem 700) since 1984, would I do it again....absolutely, a great varmint and antelope cartridge, overshawded by todays newer 6mm rounds, but still my choice over a 243 anytime, anywhere, under any circimstances.
