6mm rem ackley

has anyone tried one of these at a 1000yds competition just wonder how they would do for accuracy to me the 6mm rem has a better case design then the 243 just wondering how they did ?

Yes they did. Years ago my gunsmith and me were shooting the Fun match. In that match they don't shoot for group just combined score. I was shooting my 16.5 light gun and he was shooting his 100 pound heavy gun in 6 Rem. IMP. It was really cold and windy. I shot first and they taped my holes and then he shot. They kept the targets because they were wet and if they needed to measure to break a tie. When it was over he got our target and when he opened his jaw just dropped. He shot like 17 inches and just big and ugly. I had the first 9 shots in 4.25 inches and one went to the right for a 6.25; 99 score. He called me that night and asked what powder and primer and how much powder. Monday morning he cut his barrel off and made it a Dasher and has been shooting them ever since. You just can't beat the Dasher at 1000 BR for accuracy. Matt

i BELIEVE WHAT YOU SAID I WONDER IF YOU ARE JUST ABLE TO READ THE WIND BETTER I KNOW THEM DASHERS SHOOT DON'T GET ME WRONG. BOY YOU WOULD THINK THEM 6MM REMS SHOULD SHOOT GOOD???

No it wasn't a matter of just reading wind. My gunsmith is just about all time high in Points at Williamsport in heavy gun. He shot his 10 shots in 14 seconds. I shot mine in a matter of minute and a half. His gun has won Nationals and a lot of aggs at Williamsport and set 2 records 2 years ago with another shooting it. He has just won and won since the Dasher. Matt
