Why is a straight .900 or 1" barrel the choice for 22rf ?

I assume you have read the posts on barrel tuners and know that rifle barrels vibrate while the bullet is moving through them. Heavy barrels vibrate less. There is also an increase in mass with a heavy barrel that will require more energy to set in motion. Short answer to reduce vibration and movement under recoil. Most of the gain is achieved by .9 to 1 inch.

As far as custom RF, especially RFBR, it’s all about the tuning. Most are .875”-.920”. Which also is driven by weight class builds and balance FWIW.

.900 barrels fit the Turbo and 2500 actions.

For the Vudoo and 40x style actions you need a blank with the 1.25” shoulder. From there it steps down usually around .900, which helps with tunability

Bullets go where they go for a reason all their own, they pay no attention to your thoughts.
Come on John, lighten up, the guy shot his first sanctioned match.
