Why Don't People Mark Their Listings as Sold?

I know this is probably futile, but as a buyer it's frustrating to scroll through all the selling ads and have to read the followup posts to see that the item is sold. Yet the post itself is still listed as selling.

I am very appreciative of those who change their listing itself to be marked as sold.

Perhaps the rules should be that those ads not marked as sold after 60 days are deleted. Then sellers will have to repost their live ads or mark them as sold. I do think keeping sold listings forever is good as it leaves a database of information about items that were sold and often at what price. But any item listed as for sale, should always still be for sale.

When answering these type of questions, I always like to use this explanation. At least half the people I run into during any given day looks like they have not even remembered to comb their hair when getting out of bed each day let alone remembering to mark their items sold. LAZY

And thats why I shave my head.
No combing required.

I think that if we are going to make changes to the classifieds, the first one should be that only contributing members are allowed to use them.
While I understand that would limit some of the listings, with the increase in scams and other BS going on in forum classifieds (not just this site), that would go a long way to protecting the members of the forum.

And when I say "use" I mean actually be able to see them at all.

The few times i have sold something here, when sold i delete the post. Seems like the right thing to do. Tommy Mc

Lots more time the Boss will have to put in to keep up with dead posts, I think he does enough already. Besides what else do you have to do just like in Kindergarten keeps your reading skills up, Yes it annoys me too,
I can annoy myself just as easily with my own forgetfulness these days

Meh… with all the bigger fish to fry… not being able to tell if an item is sold or not isn‘t high on my list…. I personally like the item that is for sale that has been bumped by the seller 20 times…. After the first couple bumps, you’re asking too much or it’s the wrong crowd.

To be fair… I have put things for sale in the wrong crowd before specificly for that reason. You never know when the right item will hit the right person in the wrong place. :)

+1 on silver or gold members only being able to sell. Wouldn’t put the kibosh on buying, for the same reason, I have purchased things from forums I have only registered for to contact some one to buy something. It happens.

I'd be upgraded if this site didn't keep blocking me and that the only answer I get is that Succuri has issues in my area. I have more difficulty accessing this site on a regular basis than any other gun forum. Sometimes I have to use a VPN and switch my location just to get on this site and that doesn't always work. I like the site, but will wait on upgrading till I feel I can get on with regularity.

I hate seeing "SPF or Sold Pending Funds" as much as anybody. Right or wrong, someone told me they leave it up until the money has changed hands and the deal has gone through smoothly. If it hasn't then they still use the same ad and let us all know that the purchaser didn't honor the transaction. Me, I would just say waiting on payment, it flows better!

As soon as I sell something I automatically change it to sold. I can't stand like you that people sell stuff and don't mark it as sold.
