Why 6 BRA?

This is what a Bart's 80gr looks like at touch in a .104 freebore using Alex's method. Measures 1.820" with my Hornady comparator. 119 rounds on .236, 12 twist, 4 groove Krieger.

6 MM BR or 6MM BRA- I cant tell by the picture. what powder are you using and how are the 80's grouping for you?

I don't see how you are holding the 80 gr. boat tail that shoots in to the lands with a .104 free bore, not much for sure. The reason for the .060 free bore was to set the bullet close to the powder and to lessen the capacity for the 80 BT. and when it will shoot groups in the mid zeros at a hundred. .. Jim

What powder and velocity are you sending those little 80’s?

This is a BRA. I haven't shot any of the Bart's 80's yet, nor done any real load work. I'll be using XBR8208 and searching between 31.4-32.4gr. Berger 80gr varmint bullets showed a lot of promise in this range.

At 1.832", I'll be .012" in the lands. There's .118" of bearing surface in the neck plus the boat tail. It may be too long or it may shoot great. We shall see. If it does shoot, hopefully it won't grow too quickly.

with the bart 80bt in the BRA with 104 freebore I get .200 bearing surface in the case .280 to the BT. that's at touch on the lands.

I FF'ed with 30.5gr xbr8208, Russian primer & a Berger 80gr Varmint flat base loaded .01 into the lands. 3,100fps in a .236 4 groove 28" Krieger.

Went all the way to 33gr and 3,350fps in once fired brass and never found pressure. I shot one 300yd clay match with 32.1gr at 3,250fps.

Finally got my Bart 80 dominators and will start load work as time permits.

It's just my own reamer, witch is actually stamped "BRTM". I asked Alex a long time ago to serial number my barrels so I can keep notebooks for each (protecting against my own mental deficiencies), so now he just stamps weird $h!t on them. This one is BRA "BRO"

He looks out for me, what a nice kid lol.

Love it!!!!!!!!!;)

I needed a laugh to start my week off.....:D

TAC40 has a body length just shy of Dasher. The BR-AI is the 6 BR improved. Max loads with BR-AI with 105's run 2920, to 2980. Max loads with TAC40 run 3060 to even a bit higher in some barrels.

I'm no expert shooter and got a 6BRA when I was offered the loan of a reamer and to get in on the order for a set of Whidden dies after posting a "what cartridge" question to get back into 500m fly and 1000td br on our local forum.

Good excuse to show you my rifleIMG_1946.JPG

and a target shot at a 300 yd match with fireforming loads

the high shot was the first and I adjusted down to get into the ten ring for the next 4

The wind was howling here yesterday, so I didn't do a long or conclusive test...but shooting the 80 gr Hillbilly bullet that Larry Moore makes, seemed like cheating in that wind. To be fair, it shoots the 80gr EPS very well too, and I just haven't tried Bart's in it yet.
This was not with a BRA but with a straight 6 Grendel, shooting XBR powder at 31.4gr. That same charge in the BRA is said to be around 3,250fps, so I'd extrapolate my velocity to be around 3,400, given the smaller case capacity and same powder charge. In my rifle, there were no pressure signs at this charge. The usual disclaimer applies, that you should work loads up in your specific rifle and this load may be too hot in yours(but I don't think I was close to any pressure problems, based on primers, case heads and bolt lift) I'll try to chrono some soon.--Mike

Those numbers on the BR imp. are shooting small it ain't a race but the Br imp. will go faster ..... A Dasher will shoot 3100 but in 1/4 min. dropout back to where it shoots best your at the Br imp. area...... Jim

I have a 27 1/2" BR-AI barrel waiting on me to try it out, its not your favorite twist with 8 1/2" but that twist earned me a lot in 2012 at the 600 yd Nats. Its a Brux and will see where the vertical flattens out, it might go upper 2900`s. Shall see soon.

The TAC 40 shines as an F-Class choice where 1/4 minute accuracy and 3080 fps will win you many relays. It has even gone against and won at 1000 yds against 284 Winchesters with an excellent driver at the wheel.

I did very well at 2920 and 2980 with a Dasher. accuracy trumps all...... Jim
