Who's bought steel targets lately

Looking to get some steel to shoot. I've seen older posts about vendors but looking for something more recent from actual buyers.

Also wondering if anyone shoots the self sealing targets and how they like/dislike them. Thanks for looking.

I have 5 or 6 from Hangfast and they’re great. They hang at an angle and ring pretty good. The day picture was taken the targets took a pounding from 223 ,25-06,
270 , 30-06 and no divots on targets.

WalMart, at least here, sells AR 500 steel targets in various diameters. They seem pretty well priced given you don't have to pay shipping(its built into the price )

I buy my targets from Jake Vibbert at JC Steel. His AR500 has held up best for targets I use personally and use in matches that get shot a lot when compared to some other targets I’ve had others bring to matches; I believe this is related to the brindle hardness he specs for his steel. He offers targets “holed” for straps/firehouse/chain or “slotted” for “T” posts.

I don't remember who on this site it was, but they sold AR550 targets. Claimed they were significantly harder than AR500. They were right. They won't hold up to a .50 Armor Piercing at 100 yards, but everything else the knuckleheads at our range throw at it, they just smile back.

I sold my interest in Field & Cave back in the spring of 2021. We continued to supply targets to them, but I had nothing to do with their sales, marketing, fulfillment, etc. I was just their supplier via my day ( “real”) job. Their purchasing activity tapered to basically zero in recent months. I just confirmed with them today, that they have closed the business. It’s unfortunate, especially since the reasons had little to do with F&C, rather problems in his other businesses & personal life.

I have some target inventory in Dallas. We have a limited supply of 3/8” AR500 remnants, as well as a decent supply of 1/2” AR550. We have lasers & hy-def plasmas to cut it. If you need something, shoot me a PM. I may be able to help. Please be patient, as it will have to be something I manage. I no longer have automated sales/ order fulfillment systems. That was the reason we started Field & Cave in the first place. We aren’t set up for it. We’re manufacturers, not retailers.

I use hang fast also, I have to retrieve the gongs at the end of the day or they wont be there the next time I go, easy to remove and pull the T post no chains bolts or straps to break no taking apart stands, Works for me
