Whoever designed Alliant's 8lb jugs needs to be punched

I know...I know...I've got it pretty good if the most upsetting thing in my world is the size of powder jugs....but seriously Alliant, this thing could hold 25lbs easy.

I've always been a Hodgdon/IMR guy, but all past Alliant expirences have been with their 5lb jugs.

I suspect the designer is the same guy Redding fired for designing their die boxes, and was subsequently laid off from Federal after creating their primer packaging.

I actually like the Alliant designed jugs! Why? It makes it easier to mix lot-to-lot powders. EXAMPLE: I have 2 / 8 pound jugs of RL-23 but with different lot numbers. It has been well documented that their Lot-to-Lot is pretty consistent. However, once I get down to about 4 pounds in 1 jug, I will mix the other one in there and now I have 12 pounds of virtually the same powder. It merely makes it easier to do that..

Does RL16 come with a gigantic fluffy cotton ball thingy on top of the powder like you find in a bottle of vitamins? ;) Alternatively, maybe it's like a bag of potato chips, which are usually only about 1/4 full when you open them at home..."Product is dispensed by weight...some settling may have occurred during shipment" LOL.

4lbs universal is in the same jug as 8 lbs.
I think I paid 8lb price not knowing size doesn't matter .... :/

It very much feels 1/2 full (if that).

I think it's like one of those 'dual use' bonus items they include to do you a favor....similar to how Lapua brass boxes can be turned into a cartridge box. Only with Alliant 8lb kegs, they double as an above ground diesel tank once the powder is out of them.

Being the glass half full, every cloud has a silver lining, bright little ray of sunshine that I am, the one advantage of that monstrous jug is that you could probably buy 3 or 4 of those jugs and combine the powder from them to create a single full jug ;). Of course the downside to that approach is that then the three empty jugs will likely end up in the landfill.

On a bit more serious note:

With all the focus on recycling and waste, the packaging of most everything is at least 30% too big. "They" should enact their "meaningful legislation" and leave the second amendment alone.....and really "help" the world.

Hmmm, not sure I dont need a stronger cuppa joe this A.M.
