You don't understand the problem. I have the rifle I don't have the dies. My reloading equipment was stolen. I bought another reamer in case I want another barrel made. And yes the other reamer, the first one, it was stolen as well.Buy a blank and have your gunsmith ream it.
Chamber reamer, chamber reamer print, and fired (40° shoulder) & unfired cases, so, yep, most everything except the "oink" .
If you have free fire cases, you can send them to Harrel Precision and they will make you a custom die for that caliber you may want to call first too check and make sure they do the 17hmr (540) 380-2683 good luckI recently received an email from a large company stating the following..
Hi Lincoln,
I apologize but we do not have the tooling that would be needed to make custom dies for this cartridge. I’m sorry for the inconvenience.

They still make 17 hornet so I don't understand the problem please help explain this if anyone can.
The cartridge I need dies for will be a 45° 17VHA.

Thank you very much you probably saved me quite a bit of headache. Having an option reduces my stress quite a bit. Knowing that they will be able to do it at a price proves that any other company just doesn't want the job. And that's okay Redding is just not interested. If you have free fire cases, you can send them to Harrel Precision and they will make you a custom die for that caliber you may want to call first too check and make sure they do the 17hmr (540) 380-2683 good luck
I've never heard of Newton but I also didn't know Harrel was still in business. If this is the case then I could just have JGS make a resize reamer.Suggest you get a resize reamer on order-
Newlon blank & seater-
You can get it done then…
I have a forming die for the original 4.6x30mm case with the original shoulder angle, all I actually need is a FL die for my 40° shoulder case. It would be nice to have a precision neck sizer bushing die, and a precision seating die.![]()
Just die blanks-
Sizer will have to be harden, or melonite
Seater will be fine
Wow I like their prices. Thank you very very much. I will give them a call on Monday.![]()

You seem to be concerned with just fps. My 6BR can shoot small groups past 600 yards.View attachment 1525330
In response to another question about why did I pick such a difficult cartridge it's because it can perform almost everything from 17M2 to 17Hornet given the correct handload. It will even go down to 850fps with a 32gr cast lead RN on the right side with 1.2gr of 700X. On the other end of the spectrum you can go up to 3900 feet per second from a 18.75" barrel with the 17gr bullets on the left. 2950fps with H4198 and a 30gr.
Where some see difficulties, I see an advantage.

Not really just fps, mostly versatility. This was made to be a light TC carbine for walking / stalking rabbits etc. No 600 yds shots ever attempted. Most shots have been between 10 to 80 yds. So, yes still small groups, just not at the distance you are shooting. Grouse rabbits, squirrels, etc aren't shot at 600yds, nor do they require a 6mm. A rifle for hunting is sometimes not what you want on a bench for groups, nor do I want to have a long heavy bench rifle for stalking in the woods. A .22lr is a good back up pack/hike rifle, but it is not interesting to me. Sure I could use a 30-06 with 110 gr round nose but that's what I would consider to be overkill although very utilitarian. You seem to be concerned with just fps. Not really, it is hit and miss, a GREAT option is a 17 squirrel. I put out a WTB on a couple forums, and just bought the 40gr Fiocchi loaded to break down and reform. It is a considerable effort, but only needs doing once.4.6x30 any easier to come by than years past?
The VHA were meant to be about like a reloadable rimfire. An option not seen since the fall of the little Cooper rounds.
It is on order with them, but 12+ months for delivery. There's always CH4D. It may take a while.
I Hope you're incorrect, as I spoke with the technician who told me they woul, and it required EDM .Hornady won't do .17 custom dies.
We are interested in different kind of hunting. I go after nothing but GH. My rifle weights 13.5 lbs.Not really just fps, mostly versatility.
