WHO IS MAKING CUSTOM .20 CAL. BULLETS

Tim Gardner, owner of Douglas Barrels, did swear by Bergers. His 0.20 caliber is something to see on the 1k line! Got to see him run it last year at White Horse. Was hoping to see a vapor trail, but the air lacked just a little humidity of seeing it. I have saw a few targets of his hanging out at the shop, and the groups are rather impressive, to say the least! When a .20 can punch a .5 MOA or better, that is saying something. This will be my first year at IBS, all I am hoping for is a solid MOA or better for the season.

A friend has the fanciest benchrest rifle that money can buy, that was rebarrelled to a .20 PPC and which now has a big Nightforce on top. He is a very meticulous loader and excellent shooter, and he has shot a lot of groups in the .1s with Berger 40s. I really don't see how anything else could do any better.

Try Blaine Leisy at BlackHole Bullets: blackholebullets@gmail.com -- He made some 55 gr Poly tip and 60 gr HPBT bullets for me. They look great!

Will shoot them in my 8-Twist 20 Grendel as soon as Hornady ships a seating plug that will accommodate the long ogive.

Here are a few : Lucas in Montana , Badger Ridge , Unmussig , Schroeder , and Certech . At least they were a few years ago .

Don Unmussig is a really nice guy but seems prone to memory lapses. He forgot (TWICE) my one and only order. Never received any bullets. I finally gave up. No, he didn't steal my money as he wanted me to pay after the batch was made.

The cartridge is the 20 Grendel.

I'm highly impressed with the bullets. I did my first ladder test with them yesterday. Our range is only 100 yards, so it was modified to be more like a round robin with a single shot at each aim point. The velocity excursion was 100 ft/sec based on a nominal 3000 ft/sec. The extreme spread was less than an inch. Am looking forward to refining it!

It depends...

I'm running the illustrated cartridge at about 50,000 psi out of a 20-inch barrel. I'm getting close to 3100 ft/sec per a Magnetospeed chronograph. The numbers are slightly above what QuickLoad calculations suggest.

The pressure and barrel length reflect my interest in moving the cartridge into an AR15 so I want to develop statistics relevant to the target platform.

You'll see a few hundred ft/sec more from a 28" 20 BR running at maximum pressure. And the bullet has a BC that is a touch above the .195 G7 of the Berger HPBT!
