Who has an AUTODOD and do you still use it

Since I turn a bunch of brass each year, I was trying to find ways to be more efficient.
Who uses an AUTODOD for turning brass, and how long does it take to set up for each individual case specifications?

Meaning If I did 100 30br at .010" then needed to do 100 6ppc at .0086". then needed to do 100 30br at .0096"?

Right now I am running PMA cutters and have a separate one for each case set up, so I can literally switch from one to the other in a matter of 60 seconds or less.

Should I even consider spending $2400 on a machine like this?

Wes, this neck truing contraption proves that you can take a rather easy, (and simple) proccess and overcomplicate it to the point of insanity.

Add to that it is a flawed process.

But it will look nice sitting on the bench next to that multi-thousand dollar powder measure.
No argument from me, I’m genuinely curious. What makes you say it’s a flawed process?

How 'bout spending a little less time whacking around that little white SOB ball and you'll have plenty of time to take care of what's important.

There is absolutely no reason to “bore” the inside of a neck. The finish that any too makes will never be as smooth as the finish that is a process of the way cases are manufactured. The manufacturers reason for doing it is BS.

plus, it is a piece of machinery, subject to wear and degration of the tooling. If something goes amiss, (and it will), you are at the mercy of the manufacture to get it fixed.

There are other things, but you get the idea.

If you are turning few different cartridges it's probably worth getting a separate tool head for each cartridge, I do Dasher, BRA and 300WSM and I ruin few cases during setup, they still can be used for foulers
I got the AutoDOD 50% off because I split the cost with another club member and that makes me smile :)

Over 500 of them in the world today. The naysayers are always the ones that "heard" something from someone that one time. We have a incredibly high percentage of happy customers with them. If you polled the top 30 competitors from f open at a national event, I would wager the majority are using them. Also, the naysayers I see in this thread, I have never seen at a national f class event, so take that for what it's worth...

The bench lathe option is a good one. Makes some collets out of brass or delrin, put them in the three-jaw chuck and use your current cutter. It is fast and precise. I can turn about 120 cases an hour, and that's taking my time.

I have had one for over a year now, started with an order for just the IDOD but after long conversation with Katie@fclass products decided on loading it up with all options. it is a tool like any other tool or computer, its as good as the effort and information you put into it. if you are impatient on the setup then you could have problems. if you take your time and use the gauge and adjust slowly you will not ruin any cases. it is the most repeatable cutter on the market. and it can be set up to cut only the outside if that's you prefrence I would say if anyone has an issue with cutting more on one side of the neck then the other, its the brass that was not true to start off with, they have body/neck dies that will get a new case straight if that's an issue. I hydro form my 30BR brass and PPC brass and then use there body/neck dies and then run through the IDOD and run on a runout gauge and most of the time im checking the gauge because I have absolutely zero run out and necks are exactly what I set up the cutter for. I will run 2-300 cases through at a time and will randomly pull case to check and they are alway s on point. I also use an amp press to seat every bullet and it reflects the consistency in my trimming. Bryan is an innovator and sadly most people talk down on the products because they can't afford it, not because they have used one and it failed them. this isn't a cheap tool, but neither is the sport/hobby. my time is valuable and this thing makes turning necks a lot more enjoyable then a damn drill and cutter. not to mention you have to size to mandrel turn anyways. hands down a tool worth having if you can afford it, Note: I have even used it to rebate 30BR cases to fit a PPC bolt so there are many things it will do. also is capable of cutting cases to length based off shoulder. Im very happy with mine.. well done Bryan thanks to you guys for making life a little easier..

I second that review…. Well stated. I Love mine.

I use .272 no turn neck fireforming BRA barrel to get the necks straight then turn for my .268" match barrels, I get about .0004" of runout.

This is the way I've started doing my .268 necks and they turn out great. But I do use a pma turner.
